Vandy Vape Revolver RTA Review Flavor All Day Long

Is a rotating airflow a gimmick or something that can enhance vaping? We will find out in the Vandy Vape Revolver RTA review.  The idea is that the incoming airflow will be redirected by a revolving section to customize the distribution of the airflow. That’s why they call it the “Revolver”. The 25 mm diameter atomizer bubbles out in the glass portion and there is a considerably sized atomizer deck. A big deck is always something that I look for because it makes installing coils a lot easier.

Just in case you are new to vaping, I will start off the Vandy Vape Revolver review with a little background. Let’s quickly go over the difference between RTA and RDA. The Revolver is an RTA. That stands for “rebuildable tank atomizer”. The RTA design is made for building and installing your own coils and it has a tank portion to hold a reservoir of vape juice. On the other hand, the RDA does not have a tank to hold e-juice. Instead, the RDA requires the vaper to drip juice on the coils as needed.

• RTA - has a tank that contains a reservoir of e-liquid.
• RDA - no tank to contain e-liquid, instead user manually drops juice on the coil.

Both RDAs and RTAs are recommended for experienced vapers. If you prefer a vape kit that uses pre-built coils, check out the Vaporesso Polar kit. Making your own coils is a very enjoyable experience, but indeed does take some practice and experience! I will say, however, that if you are looking for your very first rebuildable atomizer, the Revolver is a good option. The large atomizer deck is easy to build on and a great one to learn on. If you are an experienced builder looking for more flavor, this could be the one for you, too!

Vandy Vape Revolver Revolving Airflow

The Vandy Vape Revolver RTA review was a very enjoyable process! The build quality is superlative and the flavor is just fantastic. Truly. I really enjoyed the revolving airflow idea. I found that the flavor performance was similar for each type of airflow but you could change the restriction. I am probably confusing you so let me really get into the details of how the revolving airflow woks.

First, there is an adjustable airflow at the base of the tank as there is with most tanks. The revolving airflow portion of the Vandy Vape Revolver is inside the tank located right below the build deck and has three different settings. The three options are:

• Three up and down slots
• Two large cross cut slots
• 12 small slots in a dimpled pattern

To select one of the revolving airflow settings, use a screwdriver to turn the section to the desired airflow. Once you choose an airflow, it will remain in place. The revolver portion is not accessible from the exterior of the tank. To adjust the revolver, the base needs to be separated from the main tank housing.

Is this a gimmick? That was a suspicion when we started the Vandy Vape Revolver review. The verdict is no. The revolver airflow piece is a very cool idea and does change up the airflow. I like the dimpled airflow setting because I feel like it truly distributes the airflow all through and around the coils. For a smoother airflow, one of the other options might be your preferred choice. The revolving airflow gives you some options and I take that as a plus.

Vandy Vape Revolver RTA Review

In this section of the Vandy Vape Revolver review we will get into what it is like to build on and how it is to vape. First off, this deck is easy to build on. The post clamp design makes it easy to install the coil. The clamp is a ceramic, non-conductive material that is very strong. You can torque the wires firmly. There are nice big juice wells and you can use lots of cotton when you wick.

There are a couple of little tricks to building that I will get to shortly. But for now I feel very comfortable saying that if you are new to coil building, this deck is great to learn on. It is also good for experienced builders. After installing your coils, that is the best time to select your revolving airflow. I would try all three to decide which you like best.

The vaping is outstanding. The flavor is so good. I can't say enough good things. I think it is the large vape chamber that encourages the airflow to really draw out the flavor. I also want to give a plus to the top flow design. I love having top fill on an RTA.

Obviously the type of vape juice that you use will make a difference. The best e-liquid is Freeman discount vape juice. Freeman makes premium quality juice for less. A lot of cheap juices are only going to gum up your coils and taste gross. A quality juice like Freeman makes all the difference. 

Vandy Vape Revolver Building Tips

I do have a few building tips that I wanted to include in the Vandy Vape Revolver RTA review.

• When you cut the excess coil wire, make sure to cut it flush to the clamp. Any excess wire poking out may come into contact with the housing and cause a short. So cut it flush and there will be no problem.
• Use 3 mm coils or larger. You will want to use a generous amount of wick so a 3.0 mm or even a 3.5 mm coil will allow you plenty of wick. The wick will stay nice and saturated thanks to the large juice wells.
• Try and position the coil so that it is about 2 mm away from the clamp and sits over the center of the airflow. The clamp hold firm which makes adjusting the coil position a breeze.

Update: After using the Revolver for a while, we are impressed by how well this RTA wicks. The large juice wells seem to make a difference. But, you do want to take care to always keep the tank upright so that it doesn't leak out the tip.
